Pins

The objective of the Bowling Pins Match is to shoot all five pins completely off the table in the shortest time. You may use as many shots as you wish, but we ask you be considerate of others waiting to shoot. At the end of your shooting, if you leave a pin standing on the table, you will be assessed a ten second penalty. If you leave a pin lying on the table, you will be assessed a five second penalty.

The pins are set in different locations on the table, depending on whether you are using center fire ammunition Vs rim fire ammunition, and there are different scoring categories for stock sights Vs unlimited sights (red dot, LASER, etc.). Larger caliber ammunition (.38 spl - .45 ACP) works better when shooting the pins from the center fire position.

As with any match, it is important to arrive early to help set up for the match, and attend the safety briefing. If you miss the safety briefing, participation is not allowed.

Bull's eye - .22 Pistol League

General:  Participants may shoot in as many or as few matches as they are interested; no minimum number of matches is required for participation.  After shooting in two matches, participants are assigned to a team; three teams are then formed for the entire season and awards are made to the participants on the winning teams at year’s end.

When:
Each Wednesday evening from the first Wednesday in May through mid-October. Two relays are fired each evening; the first at 06:00 p.m.; the second at 07:00 p.m.  Participation can be in either, as the entire match is fired during a one-hour time period.  Prior registration or notification is not required.  Those wishing to participate should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start times to prepare their equipment.  Safety briefing are given immediately prior to the start of the match.

Where:  The upper bulls-eye range at the Monocacy Pistol Club.

Equipment:

Handgun:  A .22 rimfire caliber handgun, either pistol or revolver.  Pistols should be capable of firing five rounds within 10 seconds.  Two magazines for the pistol are required; each should hold at least five rounds.

Sights:  Any sighting system is allowed (iron, scoped, etc.), although most participants currently use red-dot sights.

Ammunition:  Standard- or high-velocity .22 rimfire; hyper-velocity ammunition is not permitted per Club rules (1350 fps maximum).  The ammunition chosen should function reliably in the handgun and should be accurate.  Match-grade ammunition is not required.  60 rounds minimum required (see below).

Miscellaneous:
A pen or pencil for keeping score; a small clipboard for holding the score sheet.  A tacking stapler for attaching targets to the backing cardboard.  Tan masking tape or tan target pasters for patching wayward rounds on the targets.  Some participants use a spotting scope, or such, for checking their target prior to scoring, but this is not required.  An Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) is required.  ECI’s are available for use on the range.

Safety and Commands:  All firearms must remain unloaded on the bench at all times unless the command to “Load” has been given by the range officer.  Cylinders must be open, slides locked back, the magazine removed, and an ECI in place.

The commands for each stage of fire are given orally by the range officer.  Sufficient direction is given for all participants to understand the commands.

At the end of the allotted time for each stage, the shooters will be commanded to unload their firearms.  Cylinders must be open, slides locked back, the magazine removed, and an ECI in place.  Shooters must step back behind the black safety line, and remain there until the next appropriate command is given.  When the firing line is safe, shooters will proceed down range to score targets (see below) and repair the targets for the next stage of fire.

A mechanical malfunction (Alibi) may allow a shooter a re-fire for that string in the timed- and rapid-fire stages.

Course of fire:
The standard match of fire consists of 60 rounds, for a maximum of 600 points.  The target turning mechanism is used for the timed- and rapid-fire stages.  The match is fired in three stages: slow, timed, and rapid, in the following sequence:

Slow fire:  10 rounds in ten minutes.  Targets are scored and changed, then the stage is repeated, for 20 rounds, 200 points.

Timed fire:  Ten rounds in two strings of five rounds each, each string in 20 seconds.  Targets are scored and changed, then the stage is repeated, for 20 rounds, 200 points.

Rapid Fire:  Ten rounds in two strings of five rounds each, each string in 10 seconds.  Targets are scored and changed, then the stage is repeated, for 20 rounds, 200 points.

Distance and targets:
All targets are fired at 25 yards.  The 25-yard slow-fire stage is fired on the B-16 target.  Timed- and rapid-fire stages are fired on the B-8(P) target.  B-8(C) repair centers are used for the timed- and rapid-fire stages.  All targets for the match are supplied at the range.

Position:
The firing position is one-handed.  Other support of the firearm itself or the arm holding the firearm is not allowed.

Scoring:
Scoring of targets is per NRA rules.  Bullet holes breaking a higher scoring line, score the higher point amount.  Convention is that the person on your right scores your target; you score the target of the person on your left (pass right, score left).  Scoring totals are Slow-fire, 200 points; Timed-fire, 200 points; Rapid-fire, 200 points.  Total Match, 600 points.

Fees:

Critters \ Miniature Metallic Silhouette

You will be given a scorecard to record your performance. There is space for 4 rotations on each scorecard. Please put your name, today’s date, and what type of firearm you are shooting. There are 4-options. Unlimited Rifle (UL), Stock Rifle (SR), Unlimited Pistol (UP), and Stock Pistol (SP). Please circle the appropriate one for each rotation.

Targets are set at the following distances. Chicks = 15-meters, Pigs = 20-meters, Turkeys = 30-meters, and Rams = 40-meters.

Targets will be shot from left to right starting with the top row, then the bottom row. You can only shoot one time at each target. 10-shots per string of 10-targets. If you have a malfunction and the round did not go off, raise your hand for the RSO’s inspection. You will be allowed to load one additional round of ammo and have 30 seconds added to your time limit. If the round goes off and jams ejecting; the round counts for score. You will be given an additional 30-seconds to complete the match, but no additional ammo can be loaded in this case.

At the end of the 4-minutes or if everyone is done shooting sooner I will give the command to “cease-fire”. If you complete the course of fire prior to the 4-minutes allowed time; unload your firearm, make it safe (action open, magazine out) and step back from the line. Once I have given the command to cease-fire everyone is to clear his or her firearm (actions locked open, yellow flag in, magazines out, tubes out, and cylinders open), and step back from the line for the RSO’s inspection.

We will repeat this process until all shooters have shot all 4 stations.

Great Wars

MATCH DATES: Please check the calendar for match dates and times.

The intention of this Match
is to afford Member/Owners of Military Issued “Combat” pistols and revolvers the opportunity to fire these handguns in competition with each other and to learn more from the experience about our own collectibles and gain knowledge of handguns we are less familiar with.

Pistols and Revolvers must have been issued to any military unit between the time period of the beginning of World War 1 and the close of World War II. Clones or reproductions are acceptable as long as they conform to the specifications of the original issued handguns. Adjustable sights are only allowed on those models that were issued this way such as the tangent sights on Artillery Lugers or some Browning Hi-Powers. Police pistols of the same period are only permitted if the same model was issued to the corresponding military of the same nation.

Pistols or revolvers that have been modified in any way from their original issued configuration are not permitted with the exception of possible later cosmetic treatment such as nickel plate that does not corrupt the integrity of the original handgun. All handguns used must be in a condition deemed safe to fire as determined by the present Range Safety Officer.

Course of Fire
will be 25 yards at a 25 Yard pistol Target from a standing position behind the shooting table and a one handed or two handed hold may be used at the shooters discretion. Shooters will fire thirty rounds at each assigned target from as many as one to three handguns until they have fired their thirty rounds. At least five rounds must be fired from any of the handguns brought to the firing line. Any handgun used in any relay must be placed on the table unloaded with the action and/or cylinder open. Once the RSO has provided you with the “All clear” the first handgun may be loaded and then fired. Each handgun will only be loaded just prior to firing it in your specific rotation. Time is not the factor in this Match as our goal is to enjoy shooting these vintage handguns as accurately and safely as possible. After you have fired your 30 rounds from one, two or three handguns, each handgun will be checked by the RSO and all handguns will be “cased” and returned to the safe handling area. All handguns will be kept unloaded and cased before and after your turn at the firing line and all existing rules of the Monocacy Pistol Club will be enforced by the Range Safety Officer. If you want to shoot in more than one rotation it is at the discretion of the RSO based on the number of participants and time available. Each target will have a possible score of 300 and we will count 10X’s as tie breakers.

It is our goal to encourage Member participation to the fullest possible degree; therefore, contact Scott Wampler (douglas8860@gmail.com) with any questions regarding the match and contact Ed Schoder at emschoder@comcast.net  with questions regarding the pistols and revolvers to be used if you have any doubts about the inclusion of a specific model.

.22 Benchrest Match

The match will be held on the bulls-eye range.  A .22 rimfire rifle will be used for the match.

The targets will be placed on the 50 yard line.  The target itself has three sighting bulls-eyes for final zero.  Shooters have 10 minutes to use the top three targets to tune your optics (on the top three sighter targets).  After initial sighting the match will begin.  Shooters have 12 minutes and 30 seconds to place a single shot in 25 targets (bottle cap bulls-eye style).  Targets will be scored by the shooter and their designated partner.  Final scoring rests with the match directors. Scoring is limited to targets that have one hole.

Rifles can be used with .22 LR, L or S ammo.  No hyper velocity ammo please.  Front rests/bags and rear bags are allowed and blocks or sand bags.  One piece rifle supports (sleds) are not permitted.

The event of a tie will take the tying shooters to a single target with the round closest to center.

The bulls-eye range has a limited number of stools, bring a stool to sit on if you require that.  Go early to the bulls-eye range to familiarize yourself and sight in your rifles.
